Keeping busy...

So finally our season has come to an end... we've been fully booked all summer and things have been really crazy for us, which is why our blog has been suffering :( We do apologize for not updating you more regularly... however we do our best on uploading our wedding albums as well as keeping everyone informed on our FB Fanpage... so if you are not a fan, make sure to join!

A quick recap of what we've been up to:

1.) We were in Vegas last week for the Engage!09 Event ... it was sooo great! Not only did we meet with so many inspiring and talented individuals from the wedding industry, but we also got to enjoy the beautiful Wynn Encore Resort which is the latest addition to the Wynn Properties!!! We've got tons of photos and will be recap-ing our experience in entries to come... so stay tuned :)

2.) We are getting ready to move into our new Loft!!! YAAAAY - we are very excited about it. Our new home will be at the Chateau St. Ambroise!!! In addition to loving the space, we will be neighbors with the very talented guys from Dom Rebel ... and since Don is getting married next year, he is very excited to be a step away from his wedding planner :)

3.) We are also very excited to be getting our loft to be decorated by the one and only Audrey from Sofa-to-go... the Maddy K Lounge will be sooo inviting once Audrey is done with it :)
Doors will be opening on November 1st... and will be having an open house once things settle down! :)

4.) Last but not least... we are so excited to be putting together the first ever Bridal Boudoir at the fabulous Koko Restaurant + Bar!!! The afternoon affair will take place on December 6, 2009 and will be the perfect venue for brides and their favorite ladies to get together, have some fun, enjoy a awe-inspiring fashion show and take home great goodies and memories!!! This affair is dedicated to Montreal brides with style, class and a lot of attitude :) I think it's time Montreal brides get a fashion show and affair that is a true reflection of who they are... as well as what Montreal women stand for!!! - We are working on the site as we speak - we will go live very shortly!

The Montreal Bridal Boudoir Affair will be taking place on Sunday December 6th at KOKO Restaurant + Bar, 8 Sherbrooke Street West, in Montreal. The Boudoir Affair will be an entertaining afternoon event filled with Bridal Couture, gourmet food, and all things weddings. Brides-to-be will surely not want to miss this amazing event!

Having been to many weddings shows, founder of Maddy K Events + Weddings Atelier, Madeleine Kojakian knew brides in Montreal deserved better. “I was extremely disappointed with the quality of fashion shows at the last Montreal wedding show that I attended,” says Kojakian, “brides deserve better. It was then that I decided to host my own wedding event with a twist.” Brides attending The Bridal Boudoir Affair gain access to all of Montreal’s most sought after wedding vendors and are able to try their various services before they sign a contract. Further more, there will be couture fashion shows, entertainment, food and lots of goodies to take home.

So we can't say where or when yet.......... But we can say it's going to be absolutely fabulous! We've already been in contact with so many great vendors and everyone is on board for the wedding event of the year!

We are definitely listening to all our brides when they say "Wedding shows are just so unimpressive and there isn't any character!" So not to worry, this will not be a wedding show. This is a chance for brides to be entertained, eat fabulous food, meet the best vendors and go home with inspiration and gifts!!!

Lisa Fuoco's wedding video blog has been updated, and she's been talking about engagement parties, becoming inspired, and save the date magnets! Yes, Magnets. Her fiance, David McKee came up with the idea of including "save the date" magnets in the couples "thank you" cards. What an excellent idea!!!

Maddy K Weddings was on-air today with Kim and Lisa on CJAD for our first installment of Wedding Bells Wednesday!

Wedding Bells Wednesday will be a monthly series of Lisa Fuoco's, CJAD Promotions Director, wedding planning with non-other than Maddy of Maddy K Events + Weddings Atelier. They'll be talking with Kim Fraiser, of the Kim Fraiser show once a month on wednesdays (hence the name) between noon - 2pm.

So lately we can't get enough of Etsy. (The place to buy and sell all things handmade). And recently we've fallen head over heals for IMH Designs. They make these beautiful Clutch purses with a variety of designs, mostly florals, that are just simply amazing! As soon as I saw them, I just knew they are the perfect accessory for any bride who loves her clutch. Prices are all around $70USD which is very reasonable for hand made Purses.

I can't believe there is only 1 week left in August. The summer has gone by so fast and we've had a full summer filled with beautiful weddings all over the city! This year we saw a lot of weddings at the Nelligan (one of our most favorite spots). We also had weddings at other amazing locations this summer including The Windsor, KOKO Restaurant + Bar, Version, Suite 701, The Hyatt Regency, and this past weekend we were up at Mt. Tremblant at the Whydam Cap Tremblant. All beautiful and amazing!!!!

I've put together a little inspiration board of some highlights of this summers weddings! Surely, we aren't slowing down as we approach our fall wedding season! I just love our fall weddings, but will definitely will miss our summer sunshine as it drifts away.

A combination of Pink + Black

A classic combinations of colour we’ve seen this summer is Pink and Black (Or Fuchsia and Black).  It’s feminine yet elegant.  One of our brides was afraid that the combination would be too girly, but with the creative ideas of the Maddy K Team, the entire theme went off without a hitch and the night was absolutely stunning!

Another one of our brides incorporated fuchsia into the bridal party.  All the groomsmen had fuchsia ties and black suits, while the bridesmaids all had black dresses and fuchsia bouquets.

It’s little things like this that make the simple and classic combinations of pink and black POP!

We love cost-conscious options for couples getting married, we also love good causes and helping out foundations that donate money to specific causes.  Well, we’ve found both of these wonderful things all wrapped in a pretty package in Toronto.  It’s called “The Brides’ Project.” 

The Brides Project has two very important purposes: “to provide every bride with the things she needs for a beautiful wedding within her budget, and help children and adults with cancer.” 

Recently, a friend of ours went to the Brides’ Project while vacationing in Toronto.  She found her dream dress for a fraction of the price and the total amount of her dress was donated to cancer research.  She not only was excited about her purchase, but also felt so great about her contribution to something so important.

We love these kinds of places and are so happy some place like The Brides Project exists.  Many of our couples are from Toronto, so it’s definitely a lot of our brides can visit.

From Masquerade Balls to classic and chic, the Hotel Nelligan has been the backdrop to many of our fabulous wedding receptions. The Hotel Nelligan is located in the heart of Old Montreal making it a favorite among most of our couples. The building is over a hundred years old, with traditional brick walls and fabulous french cuisine it’s a little taste of Europe right here in Montreal.  

The Nelligan Hotel is a boutique hotel with luxurious suites and even a penthouse. So our couples don’t have to travel far to go from their wedding reception to their suite.
